All throughout my teenage years I've had acne prone, problem skin. I've tried various brands and products that claim to clear your skin, but have never really found success. Now that I have finished high school and entering my final couple of years of teenage hood, my skin is finally beginning to really improve. But I must give props to the skin care routine I have taken on board over the past 6 months. My routine involves Skin Clarity's 3 stage system which consists of a deep pore scrub, foaming cleanser, spot gel, clarity gel and repair cream. There is also a starter kit which includes everything except the scrub and they are in smaller sizes. I started out on the starter kit and think its a great idea in terms of giving the customer a good try of the products (it lasted me about 4 months) before committing to the full size version. Personally I had never heard of the brand before I saw it on the supermarket shelves and decided to give it a go. However on the packaging of the starter kit it has the 'as seen on TV' sticker, so maybe I just haven't been tuned in to the right channel?
The products are benzyl peroxide free which is the active ingredient in Proactiv and although it does work to get rid of pimples it is very harsh and can be vary damaging, particularly to people with sensitive skin. Instead Skin Clarity uses a combination of glycolic acid and salicylic acid as well as aloe vera and witch hazel. In the very beginning I did experience slight burning sensations on my face particularly after using the clarity gel, but with most skin products, your skin has to get used to new routines and may even look a little worse before you start to see results. Now when I use the products it makes my skin feel so soft and smooth and generally just very clean feeling.
My routine is as follows:
STAGE ONE : Firstly I use the deep pore scrub every 2-3 days to ex foliate and remove the dead skin on my face. The scrub looks like a white cream and has tiny little granules that work to scrub away at the surface. I must say this face scrub is probably one of the most gentle I have ever used, usually scrubs are very harsh and hurt my skin but this one is very tolerable.
Next/ otherwise I use the foaming cleanser morning and night. I pump the dispenser once and massage all over my face. The foam consistency feels so soft when applying to my face and leaves my skin feeling super clean afterwards.
STAGE TWO : If I happen to have any bigger pimples ( which is unfortunately most of the time as I rarely go without having at least one) this is where I use the spot gel. Now this stuff I really like, I can go to bed with essentially a second head on my face and wake up the next day with the pimple dramatically reduced! The spot cream is very concentrated so I only use tiny dabs of it directly on the blemish.
Next I use the clarity gel which is a clear gel that is applied in a thin layer on the skin morning and night. The gel helps to control the skin and reduce the appearance of pimples.
STAGE THREE : The last product I use is the repair cream which I think is a toner moisturiser as it says it balances and moisturises the skin in order to help reduce the appearance of pimples. I love the way this makes my skin feel so soft and smooth after using it and I defiantly think it helps to even out my completion. The cream is also not too heavy so it is suitable to wear under foundation. I apply a thin layer of the repair cream morning and night.
I highly recommend giving Skin Clarity a go as it is very accessible, being stocked at Safeway/ Woolworths and Priceline and at a cheap price too, only $29.99 for the starter kit and ranging from $14.99 to $29.99 for the full sized products. Keeping in mind different skin types can react differently to certain products, I hope that Skin Clarity helps your skin as much as it has helped my oily-combination skin.
Cool post! Very informative :) keep it upppp
